Giodi handmade terracotta tiles come from the same clay and the same hands that have been shaping our ceramics for fifty years. They are made for those who want a floor or wall surface with the warmth of craftsmanship: every piece is slightly different from the next, and that difference is exactly what brings the surface to life.
The appeal of handmade cotto
An industrial tile is perfect and repetitive. A handmade terracotta tile has soft edges, a thickness that varies by a few millimetres, and colour shades ranging from pink to brick red depending on its position in the kiln. Once laid, it creates a living floor that ages well and pairs naturally with wood, stone and lime plaster. It is the natural choice for restoring rural homes, for country kitchens, and for the porches and outdoor areas of farm stays and restaurants.

How we make them
The clay is pressed by hand into wooden moulds, left to dry slowly to avoid warping, and then fired in the kilns of our workshop in Nove, in the historic ceramics district of the Veneto region. Decorated tiles then pass under the hands of a decorator, who paints the motif with a brush before a second firing. No step is automated: this is why we produce to order and agree delivery times based on quantity.
